Support

A breathing timer that counts you through 48 patterns with cues you can see, hear, and feel. If something isn’t working, start here — and if the answer isn’t on this page, write to us.

Email support+brhythm@w3-digital.com — we answer within two or three working days.

For a bug, it saves a round trip if you include: your iPhone model, your iOS version, the app version (Settings → About), which pattern or playlist was running, and whether the screen was locked at the time.

Sessions & cues

The cues stop when I lock my phone

Turn on Settings → Session → Continue when locked, and make sure at least one cue channel is on — Sound cues or Haptic cues under Settings → Cues. Visual cues alone have nothing to show once the screen is off.

I get no vibration while the screen is locked

Locked-screen cues need Haptic cues on and Continue when locked on. What you feel then is the system vibration at fixed strength — one buzz to inhale, two to exhale, three at a transition between segments — rather than the finer haptic styles.

If you still feel nothing, check iOS Settings → Sounds & Haptics: the system’s own vibration settings decide whether that buzz plays, especially in silent mode.

The haptics feel richer when the app is open

That’s intended. iOS only allows the detailed haptic engine to run in the foreground, so brhythm uses the fine-grained styles while you are looking at the session and falls back to the system vibration rhythms when the screen locks or you switch apps. To stay on the richer tier for a whole session, turn on Settings → Session → Keep screen awake.

Why does the app keep audio running in the background?

To keep the cues alive. iOS stops a backgrounded app from doing anything on a schedule unless it holds an audio session, so a locked session that still buzzes on time is holding a near-silent one. It runs when sound cues are on, or when haptic cues and Continue when locked are both on — never otherwise.

The sounds don’t suit me

Settings → Cues offers three cue sets (Woodblock, Chime, Synth Tick) and a volume control that is independent of your ringer. The End-of-session bell can be switched off separately, and each of the three channels — visual, sound, haptic — has its own toggle. Quick Start can also override them for a single session without changing your defaults.

The screen dims mid-session

Auto-dim fades the session screen after ten seconds of no touches, to keep it from pulling your attention. Any touch brings it back, and it can be turned off in Settings → Session.

brhythm+ and purchases

What is free, and what is not

All 48 patterns, their tutorials, Quick Start at any length, and all ten sample playlists are free forever. brhythm+ unlocks one thing: creating and remixing your own playlists.

How the 7-day trial works

Playlist creation is free for seven days, counted from the first playlist you save — not from when you installed the app. A chip in the Playlists screen shows the days left. When the window closes, playlists you already built stay playable; making or editing them is what needs brhythm+.

I already bought brhythm+ and it isn’t showing

Tap Settings → About → Restore purchases, with the same Apple Account you bought it on. Lifetime purchases and subscriptions both restore this way, and all three are Family Sharing–enabled.

Managing, cancelling, or refunding

Subscriptions live in your Apple Account, not in the app: manage or cancel at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Refunds are Apple’s to give — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. A cancellation keeps brhythm+ working until the end of the period you already paid for.

Syncing & data

My playlists aren’t on my other device

Both devices need to be signed into the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on for brhythm. Syncing is handled by iCloud in the background, so give it a moment on a real connection. If something is wrong with the local store, Settings → About says so in plain language — that notice is the thing to send us.

What do you collect about me?

Nothing at all. No account, no analytics, no ads, no third-party code, no server. Your sessions and playlists stay on your device and in your own private iCloud, where we cannot reach them. The full text is in the privacy policy, including how to delete everything.

Practising safely

brhythm is a wellness tool, not a medical device. Nothing in it diagnoses, treats, or cures any condition, and it never replaces advice from a qualified clinician.

Breathing practices are generally gentle, but techniques with breath retention or rapid breathing — each marked with a caution in the library — can cause dizziness or, rarely, fainting. Practise seated or lying down, never in or near water and never while driving. Skip retention and rapid-breathing practices if you are pregnant, or if you have cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy, or a panic disorder, and check with your clinician if you are unsure. Stop anything that makes you dizzy or distressed; your normal breath is always the safe place to return to.

The full text is in the app, at Settings → About → Safety & disclaimers.

Asking for something

Missing pattern, a language you would like the app in, an iPad or Mac version, an idea that would make a session better — write to us. Requests from people who actually breathe with the app are how the list gets ordered.
